Freedom of Religion

Canada is a multicultural country meaning that many different nationalities and religions are all living together. When we are given the freedom to choose our own religion this makes Canada even more unique. Religious freedom in Canada means the government cannot prefer some religious beliefs or groups over others. Religious belief cannot be favored or non-believed. Freedom of religion is a fundamental human right that protects the beliefs of all people. It allows us to think, express and act upon what we deeply believe in. Religious freedom is more than just the freedom to believe what you want. It’s also the freedom to talk about and act on your beliefs without involvement from government or others. But as citizens, we have some responsibilities toward this freedom for example if you are a Christian you are determined to follow and understand the beliefs of that religion. It also allows people with similar beliefs to form religious groups. The charter of rights and freedoms protects all religions and all beliefs and as a multicultural country we respect and accept all beliefs and religions.
